Title V was passed. This means they can operate. Tester is at Moore Elem. right now and then another will be put at Winstead. Obviously testers are far from the actual source and the effected homes, so they are basically just going through motions. TDEC stated it plans to get to the root of the problem with Superior. We will see.
Another tester is now in Sullivan Farms.

Our pediatrician and toxocologists at Vanderbilt have both confirmed that ANY amount of phenol will cause at the minimum, lung irritation (coughing). This can only be remediated by complete stop of the smell. This is a fact from Vanderbilt Toxocologist.

Quote from the head of Wal-mart about the responsibility of a company..."For those who may still be on the sidelines, I want to be direct," Wal-Mart chief executive Lee Scott said sternly. "Meeting social and environmental standards is not optional. I firmly believe that a company that cheats on overtime and on the age of its labor, that dumps its scraps and its chemicals in our rivers, that does not pay its taxes or honor its contracts will ultimately cheat on the quality of its products. And cheating on the quality of products is the same as cheating on customers. We will not tolerate that at Wal-Mart." I wish Superior Essex had Wal-mart's standards.

Superior Essex is owned by LS Cable, a South Korean company. They purchased Superior Essex in 2008 for 90 million. That's when all the problems started. Is it a coincidence? No.

"March 15th, 2008...Wire and cable maker Superior Essex Inc. said Thursday it is in talks with groups representing employees at its magnet wire manufacturing plant in Chauny, France, about a possible closure of the facility. The plant, which has about 130 employees, is operated by the company's French subsidiary, Essex SAS. Superior Essex said in January it planned to consolidate and restructure its North American magnet wire business, as part of a worldwide cost cutting initiative. It closed a plant in Indiana and moved operations to Tennessee and Mexico facilities." Then LS Cable bought them for 900 million. Also, since Tennessee and Mexico are non-union, those employees earn $5 an hour less and have few benefits than other SupEx employees. Not to mention that the working conditions are horrible.

As bad as the fumes are outside the Superior Essex, Franklin plant, I can't imagine how bad it must be for the workers inside the plant. They need the jobs so they don't report the working conditions...yet their health is going to suffer. I've read comments from workers at the Indiana plant that they leave work with the smell of the magnet wire fused into their clothes..just think about chemicals are inside their lungs.
